The Hobby Club of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET), Payyannur, organized a Reels Competition with the theme “Between the Bells”, encouraging students to creatively capture meaningful moments from their campus life. The competition aimed to highlight the idea that “Life happens in the moments between”, inspiring participants to showcase unseen, candid, and expressive stories through short video content. A total of five students actively participated in the event, each presenting unique and creative interpretations aligned with the theme. The entries were evaluated based on creativity, storytelling, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and appreciation from the student community. The winners of the competition are as follows: First Prize: Muhammed Rizvan MA (S2 ME) Second Prize: Devang TD (S2 CSE) Third Prize: Adwaith K (S4 EEE) The prize distribution ceremony was conducted during the prestigious SATVI – College Day Celebration held on 27th March 2026, where the winners were honored and appreciated for their creative excellence. The event successfully provided a platform for students to express their perspectives through digital media and encouraged artistic storytelling within the campus. Overall, the Reels Competition was a great success, fostering creativity, engagement, and innovation among students.


Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET), Payyannur, in association with the Women’s Cell and Taal The Beat Dance Club, successfully organized a vibrant Zumba session titled “Move Magic” as part of the Women’s Day celebrations on 6th March 2026 at 2:30 PM. The session was formally inaugurated by the College Principal, marking the official commencement of the event. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Susan Abraham, Dean (UG & PG), who emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, health, and well-being in today’s dynamic world. The session was led by renowned Zumba instructor Zin Gigina Shinu, who brought immense energy, enthusiasm, and motivation to the program. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, making it a lively and engaging experience for all attendees. The program aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and the importance of self-care among women. The session began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of International Women’s Day, followed by an interactive Zumba workout. The instructor skillfully guided participants through various dance routines, ensuring inclusivity for both beginners and experienced participants. The venue was filled with excitement as participants enthusiastically moved to the beats, creating an electrifying atmosphere throughout the session. The initiative was widely appreciated, with participants expressing their interest in more such wellness-oriented programs in the future. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Abhirosh K, Secretary, Hobby Club, who expressed gratitude to the management, resource person, organizing team, and all participants for contributing to the success of the program. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET), Payyanur, organized a workshop on “Microcontroller Based Prototype Design and MVP Development” on 06 April 2026 at the ECE Seminar Hall.
The session was handled by Mr. Abdulla Mubasher K P, Lead Embedded Engineer at Deepflow Technologies Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights into embedded systems and real-world product development. The workshop focused on guiding students through the process of designing prototypes using microcontrollers and transforming ideas into Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
Participants gained hands-on exposure to practical implementation, circuit design, and development strategies. The interactive session helped students understand industry practices, problem-solving approaches, and the importance of innovation in engineering.
The workshop proved to be highly informative and engaging, equipping students with essential technical skills and motivating them to explore opportunities in embedded systems and product development.


The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SNGCET Payyanur, actively participated in Tarang 2026, a National Level Techno-Cultural Fest held at Government Polytechnic College, Kannur, on 12-03-2025 and 13-03-2026.
Continuing its vibrant tech journey, the ECE department showcased enthusiasm and talent through participation in various technical and cultural events. The fest provided a dynamic platform for students to explore learning, innovation, and creativity, aligning perfectly with the spirit of engineering excellence.
Students engaged in multiple competitions, workshops, and interactive sessions that enhanced their technical knowledge and practical skills. Events focused on emerging domains such as electronics design, communication systems, and problem-solving challenges encouraged innovative thinking and teamwork.
Beyond academics, the cultural programs and networking opportunities created lasting memories and strengthened peer connections. P. Anirudh from S6 ECE, won second in the Karaoke Competition. The exposure to a national-level platform helped students gain confidence, exchange ideas, and understand the competitive landscape.
Overall, Tarang 2026 was a remarkable experience for the ECE students, blending learning, innovation, and memorable moments, and contributing significantly to their personal and professional growth.


The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an industrial visit to the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Calicut, on 13/03/2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to real-world applications of electronics and communication technologies.
During the visit, students were introduced to various advanced laboratories and ongoing projects in areas such as embedded systems, VLSI design, and communication technologies. Experts at NIELIT explained the functioning of modern electronic systems and demonstrated the latest tools and techniques used in the industry.
The interactive sessions with professionals helped students understand industry expectations, current trends, and career opportunities in the electronics and IT sectors. The visit also enhanced their technical knowledge and motivated them to explore innovation and research.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET), Payyanur, conducted a Five Days CATIA Workshop from 4th March to 8th March 2026 in the CAD Lab. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with CADD Centre with the objective of enhancing students’ practical knowledge and skills in computer-aided design using CATIA software. It aimed to provide participants with hands-on training in 3D modeling, part design, and assembly, helping them understand industry-level design practices. Students actively participated in the sessions and gained exposure to advanced CAD tools and techniques. The training helped improve their technical competence and confidence in designing mechanical components. The workshop was highly beneficial for students, especially those preparing for careers in design and manufacturing industries. It also supported the department’s initiative to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements.

The session aimed to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills by highlighting market-oriented thinking, customer engagement, branding, and revenue generation strategies for early-stage ventures. Description of the Program The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a talk titled “Mastering Effective Sales & Marketing Strategies for Startups.” The session was handled by Ms. Soubhagya P S, Assistant Professor, SNGCET. The speaker discussed the fundamentals of sales and marketing in the startup ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of understanding customer needs, value proposition design, market segmentation, and digital marketing tools. Real-life examples and case studies were used to explain how startups can scale their products and services effectively in competitive markets. The session motivated students to think innovatively and consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Participants The program was attended by undergraduate students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and faculty members of SNGCET. The Dance Club “Taal The Beat”, under the Hobby Club of SNGCET, brought energy and elegance to the Onam Celebration 2025. A lively flash mob during the Revealing Ceremony on 22nd August 2025 set a joyful tone for the festivities. Later, on 27th August 2025, the club delivered a vibrant dance performance blending traditional and modern styles, which received great appreciation from the audience. The performances highlighted the creativity, teamwork, and spirit of the club, adding charm to the celebration.


A one-day session on Building Rules was successfully conducted on August 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Swami Bodhananda Hall, for S1, S3, S5, S7 and Mtech students of civil engineering department under the joint auspices of LENSFED, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Civil Engineering Students Association of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology (SNGCET). The event as coordinated by Ms. Revathi P and Ms. Shamya Sukumaran AP CE.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Ms. B Mary Sonia George, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.

Following the welcome, the Presidential Address was delivered by Sri. K.V Praseej Kumar, Vice President of the LENSFED Kannur District Committee. He emphasized the importance of understanding building rules in shaping responsible civil engineers and professionals.

The session was inaugurated by Sri. Er. E.P. Unnikrishnan, State Vice President and District Charger of LENSFED. In his Inaugural Address, he highlighted the evolving nature of building regulations and their crucial role in sustainable and safe construction practices.

Dr. Susan Abraham, Dean of Academics at SNGCET, delivered the Dean’s Address, appreciating the collaborative initiative and stressing the academic value such expert sessions bring to the students' curriculum.

The faculty resource person for the session was introduced by Ms. Revathi P, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department.

As a mark of respect and appreciation, the guest speaker was honoured by the organizers.

The core session was conducted by Sri. Er. Jabeer Thiruvoth, Convener of the State Building Rule Committee, LENSFED. He provided a comprehensive and insightful talk on the current building rules, key amendments, and their practical implications, along with real-world examples that engaged the student participants effectively.

The session concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Sri. Er. Jagathpyari V.C, Secretary of the LENSFED Kannur District Committee, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and organizing teams for making the event a success.

The Hobby Club of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology, Payyanur, organized an inspiring session titled “Discover Your Spark” on August 18, 2025, at Kumaranasan Hall, as part of the Induction Programme 2025 for first-year students. The session was handled by Mr. Abhirosh K (Assistant Professor, S&H) and Ms. Soubhagya (Assistant Professor, ME). The event aimed to introduce the first-year students to the various creative platforms offered by the Hobby Club and to encourage them to explore their unique talents and interests beyond academics. As part of the session, students were engaged in various interactive activities such as dance, acting, and other performance-based tasks, which helped them express their creativity and build confidence. The enthusiastic participation and lively atmosphere reflected the students’ eagerness to showcase their hidden talents. The programme provided a refreshing break from the regular induction schedule and successfully motivated students to participate actively in the upcoming club events. The session truly helped them to “discover their spark” and embrace the spirit of creativity and collaboration at SNGCET.


The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an expert talk and workshop on 18th July 2025 at 9:30 AM in Mahakavi Kumaranashan Hall, attended by S7 CSE students. The objective was to introduce the fundamentals of machine learning and offer hands-on experience through the implementation of a simple ML project. The event began with a welcome address by Ms. Sharija P., Assistant Professor, CSE, and event coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the participants and faculty for their active engagement and support. The session began with a lecture by Mr. Sreeraj S., introducing the participants to machine learning. He covered supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised learning, popular ML algorithms, real-world applications, and the challenges and future scope of ML. The talk also highlighted ethical considerations and best practices in model development and deployment. The hands-on session was conducted from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM at the Networking Lab, where students had the opportunity to implement a simple machine learning project under the guidance of the resource person. Students worked individually and completed the full pipeline of an ML model. The students found the workshop useful in bridging the gap between theory and practical applications. Feedback collected from students and resource person was overwhelmingly positive, indicating strong engagement and interest. The expert talk and hands-on workshop provided a valuable and enriching learning experience for all participants. The practical session, in particular, allowed students to apply their theoretical knowledge, fostering deeper engagement and sparking a continued interest in the field of Machine Learning.


An engaging and insightful alumni talk was was successfully organized on 15th July, 2025, by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology, Payyanur. The session, led by an experienced alumnus (2008-2012 Batch) Mr. Ashith K Project Head covered a wide array of topics crucial for navigating the professional landscape providing students with valuable perspectives on career development and opportunities. The alumnus shared his personal experiences, offering practical advice on placement details, aptitude tests, and crafting effective resumes. He provided key insights into succeeding in face-to-face interviews and group discussions, emphasizing the skills and strategies required for each. Discussions also encompassed both on-campus and off-campus job opportunities, giving students a broader understanding of the avenues available for their career aspirations. The importance of professional networking was highlighted, with a specific focus on leveraging LinkedIn for career growth and connections. Furthermore, the talk delved into the significance of internships as a stepping stone to professional success and explored the exciting world of entrepreneurship, encouraging students to consider innovative paths. The alumnus also stressed the value of continuous learning and engagement, urging students to actively participate in conferences and seminars. The session was highly interactive, with students demonstrating attentiveness and actively participating in the Question & Answer segments. The alumnus posed several questions, to which students responded enthusiastically, making the talk a dynamic and productive exchange of ideas.


Nirthya Ragha – A Cultural Offering by SNGCET Students at Talap Sree Sundareshwara Temple As part of the annual Ulsavam celebrations at the revered Sree Sundareshwara Temple, students from Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering & Technology (SNGCET) organized a vibrant and soulful cultural program titled “Nirthya Ragha”. The event, held in the temple premises, witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of devotees, art lovers, and the general public. On April 5, 2025- 7.30 PM the Dance Club and Music Band of Sree Narayana Guru College of Engineering and Technology (SNGCET) organized a cultural program titled "Nirthya Ragha" at the Sree Sundareswara Temple in Talap, Kannur. The event was part of the temple's annual Ulsavam (festival) celebrations.​“Nirthya Ragha” was a fusion of classical and contemporary music and dance performances, highlighting the talents of young artists from SNGCET. The evening began with a devotional music performance by the college music band, setting a serene and spiritual tone to the event. Following the musical prelude, the stage lit up with a series of captivating dance performances. The choreography and coordination reflected the hard work and dedication of the student performers and their mentors. Event Highlights: Taal-The beat (Dance club): Students from the danceclub showcased traditional dance forms, captivating the audience with their graceful performances , Indietribe music band: The SNGCET Music Band delivered melodious renditions of classical and contemporary compositions, enhancing the festive atmosphere.​ The program attracted a diverse audience, including temple devotees, students, faculty, and local residents. Attendees appreciated the cultural richness and talent displayed by the students, fostering a deeper connection with traditional artforms.​The entire event was organized under the guidance of the college's Hobby club, with support from faculty members and temple authorities. Special appreciation was given to the Principal of SNGCET, who encouraged student participation and cultural outreach. The temple committee also expressed gratitude to the college for adding value to the Ulsavam through this meaningful artistic contribution.
